Blind Sports Radio has now been up and running for a number of years, so we would like to take this opportunity to welcome you to the station and we hope that you will enjoy what we bring to you as much as we enjoy broadcasting it to you.
So what is BSR?
BSR is an online radio station run by Marco Curralejo and a professional set of voluntary broadcasters based out of Melbourne, Brisbane and Adelaide.
Our goal is to broadcast local, national and international blind and vision impaired sports online, as well as to broadcast a wide variety of blindness-related sporting shows and podcasts.
Sports BSR covers include, but are not limited to, blind cricket, goalball and swish, with our team always keen to take enquiries from any blind sporting organizations with the view of covering your event live online.
Some of our history
In its infancy, BSR commenced in 2012 with some local blind cricket broadcasts from Kooyong, Victoria, which included the VBCA grand final and a few other VBCA functions and local matches.
In 2013, BSR stepped it up a notch with the broadcast of the VBCA grand final, the 92nd VBCA Presentation Night, as well as the swish nationals in Melbourne in late July, which was followed by the Keilor Park v. VBCA match from the Keilor Park ground, as well as a match from Woi Woi between their local side and the NSW blind cricket team, with our final live event broadcast in 2013 being the 32nd blind cricket championships held in Adelaide.
In 2014 and 2015, BSR continued to bring to our loyal listeners a variety of live blind cricketing events, including two more Victorian Blind Cricket Association grand finals, our continued yearly coverage of the Victoria vs. Keilor Park games, matches between The Lords Taverners and their national blind counterparts, and most recently, with a new team of volunteers coming on-board in Melbourne, we brought to you the 33rd blind cricket championships held at Princess and Fawkner Parks, which was, undoubtedly, an outstanding success for both all those involved in the daily broadcasts, as well as ensuring that Blind Sports Radio is, undoubtedly, leading the way in delivering a product that is both professional and fully supported by an ever growing listener bass.
We currently feature two shows on the network other than our regular live blind sports coverage.
Balls And All, hosted by Marco Curralejo and a variety of guest panellists, aims to interview blind sports people from all over the world.
The show is open to anyone and any blind sport coming on air and aims to introduce our listeners to a wide variety of blind and vision impaired sports and allowing those being interviewed an opportunity to talk more about their chosen sporting path as well as promoting as many blind and vi sports as possible.
The Blind Sport Podcast is another program that the team firmly promote.
Similar to Balls and All, Mike Lloyd from New Zealand goes about interviewing a variety of interesting and thought-provoking guests who will undoubtedly inspire you to get out there and give a sport a go.
